Football: Robert E. Lee at Wilson Hall

Site: Spencer Field. Time: 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: The Barons (1-0) make their home debut under coach Eddie Talley against a team that went 1-9 last season with only about 20 varsity players suited up every week. Robert E. Lee has a better turnout this season, and is going to try to utilize the Wing-T offense after operating out of the spread for the past few seasons … Quarterback Tyler Jackson is one of the few proven players on the REL roster … Wilson Hall opened the season last week with a 34-13 road win over defending SCISA Class 2A runner-up Hilton Head Christian in Talley’s return to the sidelines. Talley went 47-5 in five seasons as the Barons head coach, guiding the Barnes to a win in the 3A championship game in Charleston in 2003 in what he thought was his final game as a football coach. He is back to take over for Jimmy Noonan, who led the Barons to an 11-1 record last season before heading to Charleston to become the offensive coordinator at Wando … Thomas White had a solid showing in his first outing as the starting quarterback. The former receiver passed for 106 yards, ran for 75 yards and had two touchdown runs … Ricky Crum had 130 yards and two TDs on 13 carries and caught a swing pass from White that turned into a 50-yard gain … Andrew Harvin, David Jones and Dow Harrelson all had nine tackles for the Barons.
