Despite the loss of top two singles players, the Irmo girls tennis team figures to have another successful season. The Yellow Jackets went 13-5 and finished second in Region 4-4A last fall.
Realignment has placed Irmo in one of the toughest tennis regions in the state (5-4A) along with Midlands powers Lexington and Dutch Fork.
The Yellow Jackets welcome veterans Gillian Harper, Erin Westerkam, Marvin Guram, Ivey Westerkam, Jennifer Anderson and Chelsea Metts back to the fold, and coach Suzanna Gray has high hopes for newcomer Mary Chris Satterwaite, a sophomore.
“We have a team of hark workers, and we have some strong new players,” said Gray. “A lot of our girls have tournament experience, but they are good team players.”
