Columbia notes: The Capitals lost quarterback Antonio Marshall to an injury early in the game, but managed to beat A.C. Flora thanks to another stellar defensive performance. Columbia has allowed just 13 points in two wins to date … Demario Jeffery took over for Marshall at QB and ran for 111 yards and one touchdown on six carries … Lorenzo Boyles was the defensive star with 11 tackles, including a tackle for a 15-yard loss and a sack for a 7-yard loss, and a 68-yard interception return touchdown that broke open a tight game, Boyles leads the team in tackles with 23 to date … Chris Payne is the offensive pacesetter so far with 318 yards rushing on 54 carries.
Series history: Columbia has won two in a row to take a 20-18 lead over the Blue Devils in one of the most hotly contested series involving Richland 1 district teams. Prior to the recent Capitals surge, Dreher won five of six meetings between 2000 and 2005.
