Hartsville notes: The Red Foxes bounced back from a season-opening loss to Camden, beating county rival Darlington 27-10 … It was a defensive show for Hartsville, which limited Darlington to just 131 yards of total offense. Damian Dixon had 12 tackles for Hartsville, while Jamie Davis had eight tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown … On offense, Ronnie Jackson had 70 yards rushing and one TD on 11 carries, and quarterback Shawn Smith was 6-for-11 passing for 115 yards and one TD.

RNE notes: The Cavaliers opened the season with an impressive 43-0 rout of neighboring Spring Valley last week. It was the fourth season-opening shutout for RNE since Jay Frye took over in 1998 … Kersean Wilson had a big hand in the win vs. Spring Valley. The junior quarterback ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns, and hit on 10 of 16 passes for 76 yards. Gee Gee Greene added 86 yards rushing and one TD to the cause … The defense limited SV to just 129 total offensive yards and seven first downs, and had six takeways. Harrison Oxendine, Reggie Bell and Jeremy Posey recovered fumbles, while Trey Thompson, Shawn White and lineman Dontrail McDaniel picked off Vikings passes.

Series history: The series resumes after a four-season lull. The teams have met twice during the regular season (2002-03) after squaring off three times previously during the Class 4A state playoffs. RNE has never falter against the Red Foxes, winning all five prior outings. In postseason play, the Cavaliers won 18-13 in 1980, 23-21 in 1982 and 30-24 in 1993.
