Lower Richland sophomore Ediberto Vergara and Ben Lippen junior Allison Amick were the individual winners at the Run Wild Festival cross country meet Saturday at Sesquicentennial State Park.
Vergara nipped Henry Callis of Wade Hampton (Hampton) by five seconds in the boys race, crossing the finish line in 18 minutes, 22 seconds. Amick was a 20-second winner on the girls side with a time of 23:13.
The Dreher boys and the host Richland Northeast girls emerged as the team championship at the low-profile meet. Colin Glass, Quayshaw Hawkins and Tanner Dalton led the Dreher effort, finishing fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Helen Robertson and Erin Butler finished second and third individually to pace the winning RNE performance.
