Batesburg-Leesville notes: The Panthers (1-1) go on the winning track last week with a tough 29-26 decision against Ware Shoals … B-L finished with 298 yards on the attack. Sophomore quarterback K.J. Johnson overcame three interceptions to finish with 167 yards passing and scoring throws to Elliott Jeffcoat, Jamal Bryant and Antonio Butler … Jeffcoat, who scored the game-winning touchdown on a 19-yard run with 4:19 left in regulation, had 77 yards rushing on 21 carries and caught three passes for 84 yards … Jeffcoat has 196 rushing yards on 24 totes to date. Johnson is 13-for-25 passing for 216 yards, and 69 yards by land … Dametrius Robinson leads the defense with 32 tackles, followed by Michael Shealy with 19 stops. Taverious Davis has 14 tackles, two sacks and two TFL.

Game notes: The Tigers losing streak reached six games in a 21-16 loss to Class 1A North last week. Swansea fell 7-6 to Pelion in the season opener … Justin Crolley had 13 tackles vs. North, giving him 17 for the season. Marco Pryor added 10 stops last week and has the team lead with 19 tackles.

Series history: B-L has won three in a row against the Tigers to expand their all-time series lead to 24-13-3. The Panthers have an 11-8 edge in the modern era, beginning with an 8-0 win when the series resumed in 1974 after a five-year lull.
