Orangeburg Prep notes: The Indians fell to 1-2 in the wake of a 35-14 loss to Hammond last week … OP is a much more potent offensive team this season with a spread offense installed by new coach Adam Holmes, a former Hammond assistant … Quarterback Thomas Plumb is off to a great start – completing 31 of 59 passes for 533 yards and five touchdowns, and running for 297 yards and four TDs … Receiver Michael Williamson has 16 catches for 343 yards and four scores.

Heathwood Hall notes: The Highlanders (1-1) are coming off a 45-44 double overtime loss to Christ Church in the annual Episcopal Bowl game … CC had two interception return touchdowns in the first quarter, but needed a late, 52-yard field goal by Chandler Catanzaro to send the game into overtime … Mac Whalen scored on a 10-yard run in HH”s first OT try, and the junior quarterback hit Davis Ray with a 10-yard scoring pass on the second rotation after the Cavaliers scored on both OT possessions. The Highlanders went for a two-point conversion and the win, but came up short … Mac Whalen ran for 132 yards and hit 16 of 35 passes for 261 yards and three scores. Morgan Whalen had three catches for 97 yards and two TDs, and had one scoring run … For the season, Mac Whalen has 287 yards rushing and three TDs on 39 carries and is 30-for-57 passing for 551 yards and five touchdowns. Morgan Whalen has 14 receptions for 293 yards and three tallies.

Series history: The series resumes with a regular season game for the first time since 2003. The Highlands have beaten the Indians nine times in 11 tries through the years, and are 4-0 vs. OP in playoff games. HH has blown out the Tribe in the three SCISA Class 3A playoffs outings since the last regular season meeting. Last year, the Highlanders sent OP packing with a 45-20 first-round success.
