Football: South Florence at Crestwood

South Florence notes: The Bruins (1-2) bagged their first win under new coach Lynn Fleming last week, downing Crestwood’s district mate Lakewood 41-6 … SF caused 10 Lakewood fumbled, recovering six. The Bruins limited the Gators to 187 offensive yards – all on the ground … South Florence had a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and coasted home from there.

Crestwood notes: The Knights (2-1) came away with a 28-14 win last week at Manning. Terrence Wilson was the offensive headliner with 143 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Treginald Wilson added 80 yards on eight totes, and Dominique Stripling added 40 yards rushing and scored the other Crestwood TD … The big story was the defensive effort that limited the potent Monarchs, who had 86 points in the first two games of the season, to two touchdowns and just 192 yards. The unit had 12 tackles for loss and four sacks. Na’Im Johnson had 15 tackles and one TFL. Darius Wallace had five tackles and two sacks, Roderick Rogers had three TFL and Travis McCunico finished with nine stops and two TFL … Terrence Wilson has 490 yards and eight TDs to date on 56 carries. Marquise Parker, who had seven tackles and one sack vs. Manning, leads the team with 33 tackles. Wallace has seven tackles for loss and six sacks.

Series history: Crestwood has won two in a row to take a 5-3 series lead over the Bruins. The first five games were hotly contested, but the Knights have had a relatively easy time of late – winning 27-7 in 2006 and by a whopping 47-18 count last season.
