Camden notes: The Bulldogs’ last outing on Sept. 4 was a costly one. Camden dropped a 24-20 decision to West Florence and lost quarterback Josh Council to an injury … Camden is 2-1 and coming off a bye week, but Council reportedly needs some time to mend, perhaps four to five weeks. He had 258 yards passing and six scoring throws and 117 yards rushing on the books when he went down with a shoulder injury … The offensive load will likely fall on sophomore SaVonn Wingate, who has 329 yards and three TDs on 56 carries … Chris Outten and Roland Johnson have been in the middle of things on defense. Outten has a team-leading 33 tackles and Johnson has 28 stops. Jrel Johnson has also been a force with 19 tackles, two sacks, five TFL and two forced fumbles.
Lugoff-Elgin notes: The Demons stormed back from a disappointing 31-21 loss to Airport to beat West Florence - a physical 4A team that had beaten Camden two weeks earlier … Phillip Osborne and Trent Hudson had big games running the ball against the talent WF defense, Osborne finished with 224 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, while Hudson rang up 117 yards and one TD on 10 forays out of the backfield. Osborne broke off a 71-yard scoring run in the first half. Hudson followed with a 78-yarder lto stake the Demons to a 14-0 lead.
Series history: On balance, this has been a rather one-sided series. The parent Bulldogs prevailed in the first 16 meetings between 1978 and 1995 and enjoy a pronounced, 24-4 edge over the Demons. But L-E has won two in a row, including a 31-28 thriller in the regular season finale last year that clinched second place in Region 3-3A for the Demons.
