Hammond’s girls cross country team had another solid major-meet showing last Saturday at the Lake Murray Invitational. The reigning SCISA champion Skyhawks finished in fifth place with 128 points, just three points behind fourth-place Irmo.
Eighth-grader Catherine Herring was the Hammond pacesetter, placing 13 with a time of 20 minutes, 42.65 seconds. Mason Castles (23rd, 21:19.05), Sarah Dobbs (24th, 21:20.98), Margaret Deans Fawcett (33rd, 22:04.66) and Gabbie Rhinehart (35th, 22:12.41) round out the Hammond scoring lineup.
Herring finished second on the team behind Castles at the Coaches Classic meet the weekend prior to Lake Murray.
The Skyhawks boys finished in 14th place. Harrison Dodds (67th, 19:57.21) was the top Hammond entry.
