North Augusta notes: The Yellow Jackets (3-1) blasted Richmond Academy (GA) 41-10 to get back on track in the wake of a loss to Class 2A Strom Thurmond. Tidy Johnson ran wild in the win, picking up 215 yards on 26 carries, but he did not score. Quarterback Travis Murphy had two touchdown runs and one scoring pass … Johnson has 582 yards and four TDs on 91 carries to date. Murphy and Loranzo Hammonds have combined for 483 passing yards and three TDs at quarterback … Brett Johnson is the leader on defense with 43 tackles.
Dutch Fork notes: After scoring 77 points in the first two games of the season, the Silver Foxes offense has run aground in the past two games. The DF attack hit bottom a week ago in a 20-0 loss to Blythewood that dropped the Foxes’ record to 1-3. DF managed just 11 net yards rushing vs. Blythewood, 107 overall. In the past two weeks, the Silver Foxes have made it to the red zone just three times … Tavarris Counts has been the team’s only consistent producer. The junior running back has 216 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and is the leading receiver with 17 catches for 139 yards … Quarterbacks Justin Suber and Matt Radford have combined for 531 yards passing and two TDs … Marshall Williams is the Silver Foxes standout on the defensive side with 45 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Series history: Dutch Fork has beaten the Yellow Jackets five times in a row after North Augusta scored a 29-6 win in the first meeting of the teams in 1998. DF nipped NA 21-14 a year ago. The game is the Region 5-4A opener for both teams. The teams last clashed in region play in 1999.
