Lexington notes: The Wildcats (3-1) came crashing back to earth last week at Dorman. The host Cavaliers pounded Lexington 56-14, rolling up 490 yards on the ground (556 overall) … Anthony Carden had 75 yards rushing and one touchdown on 21 carries, and now has 589 yards and 10 TDs on the books after four games. Xavier Salley had 45 yards rushing and one score on seven carries and had an interception on defense last week.
Aiken notes: The Hornets are off to a 4-0 start, and pulled out a dramatic 23-21 win last week against Boiling Springs in Spartanburg County ... Aiken rallied from an 14-0 deficit and went ahead for the first time on a 32-yard field goal by Greg Collins with 1:21 left in the fourth quarter. The Hornets put it away 30 seconds later on an interception by Kessler Scott.
Series history: The Green Hornets have beaten the Wildcats five years in a row to take a 14-10 lead in the series. Aiken was a 42-28 winner last season in Allen Sitterle’s first season in charge at Lexington. The game is the Region 5-4A opener for both teams.
