Wilson Hall cross country ace Trey Parker had an impressive performance at the Citadel Invitational Saturday at James Island County Park in Charleston. The two-time defending SCISA Class 3A state champion was third in the field of 98 runners as an individual entry.
Parker clocked in at 16 minutes, 42.98 seconds to fall in behind Joshua Fitts of Wando and an out-of-state runner in the solo standings. The Barons star closed the gap on Fitts in their latest encounter. Parker was 12th in the elite International Division at the Coaches Classic a few weeks ago with a time of 17:07, well off the pace of Fitts who finished third in 16:15.
Parker did pass Timothy Tyler, Fitts’ teammate at Wando, in the latest confrontation. Tyler was seventh at the Coaches Classic with a time of 16:51, but Parker nipped him for third place in the rematch in Charleston by 2.27 seconds.
