Football: Orangeburg-Wilkinson at Dutch Fork

Site: Silver Foxes Stadium. Time: 7:30 p.m.

Dutch Fork notes: The Silver Foxes are still smarting from a 14-13 loss last week at home to North Augusta in the Region 5-4A opener for both teams … Despite allowing 380 yards rushing (305 by NA star Tidy Johnson), the Silver Foxes had a chance to force overtime late in the fourth quarter only to miss a PAT kick … The Silver Foxes trailed 14-0 entering the fourth quarter, but make a late move behind the play of quarterback Justin Suber. Suber scored on a 5-yard run to cut the NA lead to 14-7 early in the final frame, and caught a 5-yard scoring pass from Brandon Quattlebaum to cut the deficit to 14-13 … Quattlebaum, who took the place of injured Tavarris Counts in the backfield, had 74 yards rushing on 10 carries. Both of his pass attempts have gome for scores. Suber was 6-for-11 passing for 110 yards … Marshall Williams was all over the field on defense, and was credited with 19 tackles. T.J. Cayruth had 11 tackles. Chad Erickson and Taylor Lee had two sacks apiece.

O-W notes: The Bruins waited too long to make a move against Irmo in last week’s Region 5-4A opener. O-W (4-1, 0-1) spotted the Yellow Jackets a 21-0 lead, and ended up on the short end of 33-27 score … Quarterback Jayson Leverette connected on 22 of 34 throws for 350 yards and three touchdowns. The senior star is 77-for-128 for 1202 yards and 13 touchdowns with just four interceptions … The crack receiving corps features Clayton Gidron (27 catches-406 yards-3 touchdowns), Roy Haynes (17-351-5) and Raheem Howell (16-271-2).

Series history: The teams have split two previous contests, both of which were region games. Dutch Fork was a 14-7 winner in 1998, and O-W scored a 20-0 victory in 1999.
