Spring Valley finished 19th out of 31 teams in the boys invitational division at the 34th annual Wendy’s Invitational cross country meet on Saturday in Charlotte. The Vikings have been making steady improvement after getting off to a slow start with an inexperience team this season.
Sophjomore William Ivey and senior Ryan Morgan have been pacesetters in the time-shaving department. Ivey led the SV pack in North Carolina, Ivey clocked in at 16 minutes, 28 seconds, good for 26th in the division field of 213 runners. Moran was just off the pace, placing 29th in 16:31. Moran ran a 17:18 race last month at the Coaches Classic with Ivey checking in at 17:19.
Zach Parker (17:41), Matthew Johnson (17:50) and Jaron Pettis (17:54) were the other Vikings’ scoring entries, and all three cut time from their last major meet outing at the Coaches Classic.
