Storyline: It may only be the second week of the Region 4-3A campaign, but Friday’s game is pretty much a must-win situation for both teams. The loser becomes a long shot to make the state playoff cut.
A.C. Flora notes: The Falcons (3-3, 0-1) dropped a 19-3 decision to Lower Richland in the region opener last week, and has scored only five offensive touchdowns to date … Kicker Grant Clayton has been Flora’s most reliable scoring weapon with five field goals.
Chapin notes: The Eagles (3-3, 0-1) dropped a tough 28-24 outing last week at Lugoff-Elgin. Chapin rallied from a 21-10 third-quarter deficit to take a 24-21 lead with 4:12 to go on Josh Miller’s 1-yard scoring plunge, but the defense could not stop the run of the host Demons’ next possession … Miller had 56 yards rushing and two touchdowns, but had a tough night throwing the ball. The senior connected on just seven of 20 tosses for 109 yards and no scores and was picked off twice … Mikey Capers and Graham Montgomery combined for 157 yards rushing vs. L-E … Montgomery leads the team in rushing with 404 yards with Capers at 396 yards. Miller has chipped in 346 yards to the ground cause, and is 45-for-102 passing for 985 yards. Neil Sawyer remains the primary target, and has 19 catches for 497 yards and seven TDs … John Sloan has 65 tackles on defense. Zach Quansey’s defensive stock is on the rise with 48 tackles, two tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, one interception and three pass break-ups on the ledger.
Series history: Friday’s clash marks the first-ever football meeting of the two schools.
