Ridge View notes: The Blazers even the card at 3-3 last week with rousing 49-7 win over South Florence. The 42-point winning margin was the second largest in school historym, topping only by the 57-0 win vs. A.C. Flora in the inaugural season … Offensively, the Blazers piled up 445 yards – 255 by land, 180 by air. Jalen Perry’s nine completions in 12 attempts netted 248 yards and four touchdown throws. Greg Adams caught four passes for 96 yards and two scores. Maurice McMahan led the ground game with 107 yards and on TD on 13 carries … The defensive effort was superb while yielding just 90 yards. Linebacker Alonzo Greene led the way with 18 tackles. Otherwise free safety David Davis had 12 tackles, linebacker Marcus Lylerly had 14 stops, linebacker Renard Ellis had 11 tackles and linebacker Keandre Peavey had seven tackles, one pass deflection and had an interception return touchdown.
Rock Hill notes: The Bearcats (5-1) are off to a great start after last season’s bitter 4-8 showing. It was the worst report card since 1987 for the proud program … Last week, Rock Hill was hit for 365 yards rushing (454 overall) by York, but it did nothing to stop Joe Montgomery’s team from posting a 56-29 win … RH set the tone of the shootout after a scoreless first quarter on a 99-yard scoring pass from Jatavious Stewart to Asa Watson. Stewart went on to score three times himself – two runs and one pass reception … Jamal Tyler had 196 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
Series history: The Bearcats are 2-0 vs. the Blazers, scoring both wins in Region 3-4A play in 2002 and 2003. Ridge View managed to score just one touchdown in the two previous meetings.
