Site: Harry Parone Stadium. Time: 7:30 p.m.

Aiken notes: The Green Hornets (5-1, 1-1) pulled out a thrilling 21-14 Region 5-4A win over Irmo at home last week with quarterback Kessler Scott scoring the winning touchdown on a 1-yard plunge with 17 seconds remaining in the regulation … Kessler did it all. He ran for 92 yards, hit on 8 of 12 passes for 91 yards, including a 23-yard scoring strike to his twin brother, Hunter, and batted down a hail mary Irmo pass as time expired. His 33-yard scramble got Aiken’s, game-winning, 14-play, 77-yard scoring drive going, and his first-down pass on a third-and-14 play kept things moving … Hunter Scott had the other Hornets tally – a 6-yard scoring run.

Richland NE notes: The Cavaliers (3-3, 1-1) are coming off a tough 28-27 loss to Lexington, and could be facing a statement game. RNE pulled within 28-27 of the Wildcats on G.G. Greene’s 1-yard scoring run with 1:40 remaining in regulation, but Daniel Passment’s PAT kick was blocked … Greene had a big game with 131 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 20 carries. The senior running back had 614 yards and six TDs 113 carries to date … Quarterback Kersean Wilson is 56-for-92 passing for 686 yards and seven scores, while running for 280 yards and six TDs.

Series history: Friday’s game marks the first-ever region meeting of the teams. RNE has won three of the four previous encounters, including state playoff wins in 1993 and 2003. The schools agreed to a brief two-year, non-region contract in 2000-01. Aiken’s lone success was a 30-7 triumph in 2000.
