Blythewood sophomore Sarah Barnes had a hand in all of the Bengals scoring at the Class 4A state swimming meet on Saturday in Rock Hill.
Barnes was a Top 10 finisher in two individual events and handled legs on two scoring relay teams as Blythewood rang up 95 points and finished 15th in the team standings. It was the highest state scoring total in school history by the Bengals girls team.
Barnes finished sixth in the 200 individual medley and seventh in the 200 breaststroke at the big-school finals after placing ninth and eighth, respectively, in the two demanding races last year at the Class 3A finals.
Barnes entered the IM with the fifth-best seed time of 2:16.86, but was a bit slower in the finals 2:17.01. She clocked in at 2:20.17 in the IM last season. Barnes dropped time in the breaststroke, as well, finishing in 1:11.13 after going 1:12.25 a year ago.
