CC: DF girls earn third big-meet win at Sandhills

Dutch Fork’s girls cross country team rolled to the championship at the Sandhills Invitational on Saturday at Clemson Research Center. It was the third big-meet win of the season for the Class 4A sixth-ranked Silver Foxes.

As usual, Samantha Hughes led the way for Dutch Fork even though she had her second slowest time of the season at a major meet. Still, he time of 20:04.15 was good enough for a fourth-place finish.

The usual suspects lined up in support behind Hughes – Michelle Arms was fifth in 20:18.21, followed by Hannah Martin (10th, 21:02.69), Amelia Syfert (15th, 22:01.43) and Kelsey Callahan (19th, 22:23.78).

The Dutch Fork boys had a solid performance, as well, with a third-place finish behind Top 10 Spring Valley and Ridge View.

Grant Pensa was the Silver Foxes frontrunner, placing 11th with a time of 17:33.15. Roland Hakes (14th, 17:48.25), Kyle Corley (17th, 17:54.41), Zachary Duskin (19th, 17:57.47) and Zac Jaynes (39th, 18:28.30) closed out the DF scoring.
