Columbia notes: The battered but resilient Capitals improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 4-2A with a 28-6 win over Eau Claire on Monday night … Junior quarterback Kevin Davis connected on 8 of 12 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. In two games as the starter, Davis is 12 of 20 passing for 245 yards and three TDs. Columbia had a grand total of 63 passing years as a team in the first five games of the season … Senior Antonio Wilson, the new tailback, rumbled for 141 and one TD on 27 carries vs. Eau Claire and has 511 yards and three scores on 100 carries. Since taking over as the starter in the wake of a season-opening injury to star Chris Payne, Wilson has carried the ball 59 times … Senior linebacker Lorenzo Boyles had nine tackles, one sack and one pass break up on defense, block one punt on special teams and ran for 39 yards on three carries and caught one pass for 26 yards on offense. Boyles leads the team with 86 tackles to date … Defensive back Kenneth Johnson had two interceptions and three tackles, vs. EC, returning one of the picks 42 yards for a touchdown.

Series history: The Capitals enjoy a 4-2 edge in the series, sweeping the Volunteers in 2002 and 2003 the last time the schools were teamed up in the same region. Columbia was a 20-9 winner in the last encounter in 2003.
