A.C. Flora notes: The Falcons (3-4, 0-2) jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter last week at Chapin, and moved within 35-28 of the potent Eagles at the 11:06 mark of the fourth quarter on a 68-yard scoring pass from Drew Desmond to Carlos McCoy, but in the end ACF dropped a 49-28 decision … The Falcons defense was hit for 580 yards and 24 first downs, but stay in the hunt by recovering four fumbles and intercepting two passes … Desmond hit 10-of-17 passes for 172 yards and two TDs, and McCoy had three catches for 100 yards. McCoy, however, suffered an injury that may keep him out of action this week.
Fairfield Central notes: The Griffins (5-2, 1-1) were remarkably balanced offensively in last week’s 26-0 Region 4-3A win over Lower Richland. FC put up 155 yards by land, 157 by air … Danny Miller and Justin Trapp continued to share time at quarterback vs. LR. Miller was 6-for-7 passing for 87 yards and two touchdowns and had 35 yards rushing and one TD on nine carries. Trapp was 3-for-4 passing for 70 yards, and chipped in 48 yards rushing and one TD on 10 carries. Trapp also has a kickoff return of 29 yards, averaged 36 yards on three punts and had one PAT kick … Steve Brown led the defense with nine tackles but the big-play man was Jordan Belton, who had five tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack … For the season, Trapp is 43-for-82 passing for 683 yards and nine score, has 10 catches for 132 yards, 370 yards and two TDs rushing, 14 PATs and is averaging 38 yards per punt … Miller is 40-for-54 passing for 505 yards and five TDs. McKendrix Thompson leads the FC receiving corps with 28 catches for 508 yards and nine scores. Greg Gadsden is the top rusher with 506 yards and six TDs on 82 carries … Josh Roseborough (47 tackles), Tavon Bouknight (45) and Ralph Cooper (44) top the Griffins hit list. Roseborough also boasts seven sacks, four tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. Boulknight has four tackles for loss and two interceptions. Chris Hopkins has six of FC’s 13 interceptions.
Series history: Talk about domination. Fairfield Central is 7-0 vs. ACF, outscoring the Falcons by a combined 424-37 count since the series debuted in 1996.
