Richland Northeast notes: The Cavaliers (4-3, 2-1) find themselves in a three-way tie for second place in Region 5-4A. RNE rebounded from a bitter 28-27 loss to front-running Lexington to score an important 24-14 win last week over Aiken … The Green Hornets pulled within 17-14 of RNE with 3:08 left in the fourth quarter, but the Cavaliers put it away on the ensuing position with a five-play, 59-yard scoring drive capped by Kersean Wilson’s 1-yard run … The Cavaliers rolled up 351 yards. Gee Gee Greene paced the ground attack with 144 yards on 27 carries. Wilson had 41 yards rushing and hit 4 of 9 passes for 145 yards. Wilson had scoring throws of 84 yards to Derek Frost and 38 yards to Ricky Gunn … To date, Wilson is 60-for-101 passing for 831 yards and nine TDs, along with 321 yards and seven scores on the ground. Greene has 758 yards rushing and six TDs on 140 carries. Four receivers have double-digit receiving totals. Kenny Upshaw is the nominal leader with 15 catches for 293 yards and two TDs.

Dutch Fork notes: The Silver Foxes (2-5, 1-2) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 33-15 region win over White Knoll ... The much-needed triumph was not the result of an offensive explosion. In fact, DF had just 154 yards on the attack and one offensive TDs. Much of the credit went to the defense and special teams … Jurell Flippen had a 31-yard interception return TD, Marshall Williams had an 80-yard fumble return score. Admiral Waters kicked a 31-yard field goal … The other defensive standouts was Gary Coates, who was credited with five tackles for loss and three sacks.

Series history: Dutch Fork has taken a 7-5 lead in the series thanks to two straight tight wins over the Cavaliers. DF prevailed 14-10 last season after escaping with a 7-6 verdict in 2006.
