CC: Cardinals team sixth at SCISA finals

Cardinal Newman’s boys and girls cross country teams had sixth-place performances at the SCISA Class 3A championship meet Saturday at Heathwood Hall.

The CN boys scored 177 points with Kyle Gawinski at the head of the pack. Gawinski placed 20th with a time of 18 minutes, 34.34 seconds. Thomas Touma (29th, 19:11.75), Alex Geurin (35th, 19:45.70), Dylan Cobb (46th, 10:50.54) and Adam Touma (47th, 20:50.82) rounded out the scoring lineup.

The Cardinals girls earned the same finish in the final standings with 202 points. Caroline Gasser was the team leader, finishing in 23rd place with a time of 21:58.18. Katherine Hanigian (41st, 23:09.97), Julie Davies (43rd, 23:20.07), Erin Brown (45th, 23:35.22) and Caroline Jett (50th, 23:58.65) were the other CN scoring runners.
