CC: Highlanders boys, girls finish fifth in season finale

Heathwood Hall had two fifth-place efforts at the SCISA Class 3A cross country championship meet Saturday on its home course. The Highlanders scored 136 points to finish in the top half of the team standings, while the girls did the same with 156 points.

West Summer led the boys at the finish line, placing 18th with a time of 18 minutes, 32.21 seconds. Burk Knowlton (24th, 18:54.79), Landon Sanford (27th, 19:07.81), Preston Busbee (28th, 19:09.21) and Ian Buckley (39th, 20:00.49) rounded of the Highlanders scoring.

Brooke Grice just missed the Top 10 cut while pacing the girls pack. Grice was 11th with a time of 21:10.76. Catherine Ivey (21st, 21:46.15), Carey Roth (29th, 22:10.54), Virginia Kluiters (46th, 23:43.55) and Katherine Barwick (52nd, 24:06.07) were the other scoring runners.
