Football: Darlington at Crestwood

Site: District 2 Memorial Stadium. Time: 7:30 p.m.

Storyline: Crestwood’s 35-7 win over defending state champion Wilson had no baring on the Region 6-3A championship race. But the Knights can securing the region’s No. 1 playoff seed with a win over the lowly Falcons in conjunction with a Camden win against Lakewood.

Darlington notes: The Falcons (2-5, 0-3) are coming off a 9-3 loss to Camden. Darlington’s only wins have come against South Florence and 1A McBee … The Falcons have been good on defense, allowing just 150 points to date – the second-best points-against figure in the region. An anemic attack has been the problem. Darling has scored only 120 points, tied for last in the region with Lakewood.

Crestwood notes: The Knights (7-1, 2-0) avenged a 34-28 loss to Wilson in last season’s Lower State championship with a 35-7 win over the playoff-ineligible Tigers last week in Florence. It was Crestwood’s seventh straight win since a season-opening setback against Sumter … Crestwood rolled up 482 on the ground, 502 overall. Robert Simon led the way with 129 yards rushing on 16 carries, and Terrence Wilson added 111 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries … The Knights will go over the 3,000-yard rushing mark as a team this week. Terrence Wilson tops the list with 1157 yards and 17 TDs on 125 carries. Quarterback Treginald Wilson has 621 yards rushing and eight TDs on just 60 carries. It’s the passing numbers by Wilson that are most interesting. He has only nine completions in eight games, but the yield is an impressive 38.8 yards per connection and five scores. Damone Pringle has six catches for 217 yards (36.2 average) and three TDs.

Series history: Darlington has a 5-3 edge in the series. Crestwood’s 41-14 win last season ended a two-game losing streak against the Falcons.
