CC: DF girls rule in Region 5-4A

Dutch Fork’s girls cross country team rolled to the Region 5-4A championship on Wednesday. The Silver Foxes boys finished second behind Lexington.

Niki Klasnic, Michelle Arms, Samantha Hughes and Hannah Martin all earned all-region honors while lead the Silver Foxes to the title. Klasnic led the pack with a second-place finish and a time of 18 minutes, 54.10 seconds. Arms was third in 18:57.88, Hughes finished fourth in 19:22.71 and Martin just made the cut by placing seventh in 20:07.16. DF’s other scoring runner was Amelia Syfert, who finished 12th in 20:48.20.

The Silver Foxes finished with a comfortable 29-58 margin over second-place Irmo.

Grant Pensa and Zachary Duskin earn all-region recognition while helping the DF boys take runner-up honors. The Silver Foxes scored 46 points, just 10 off the pace of the winning Wildcats. Pensa finished in third place with a time of 16:47.19. Duskin was seventh in 17:06.87.

Roland Hakes (9th, 17:10.81), Zac Jaynes (15th, 17:26.60) and Joshua Fields (21st, 18:24.90) rounded out the DF scoring lineup.
