Lexington advanced to the Class 4A girls tennis Lower State semifinals with a 6-0 second-round win over South Florence on Thursday.
The Wildcats (17-1) will hit the road on Tuesday to face Beaufort (19-2) in the Lower State semifinals. Both teams are riding long winnings streaks. Lexington has won 15 in a row since dropping a 4-3 decision to Class 3A powerhouse Hilton Head on Sept. 8. The Region 8-4A champion Eagles topped Hartsville 5-1 on Thursday for its 16th straight win.
Lexington has won five straight matches by 6-0 counts and has 14 shutouts on the books this season.
Taylor Patterson (10-3 at No. 1), Clair Larkin (11-1 at No. 2), Morgan Patterson (13-1 at No. 3), Erin Green (No. 4) and Sarah Kim (9-1 at No. 5) turned in singles wins, while Rachel Loveaas and Victoria Anderson prevailed at No. 2 doubles.
