Ridge View ran according to form at the Class 4A state cross country meet at Sandhills Research Park. The Blazers boys, ranked No. 3 in the final coaches poll, finished third behind Dorman and Fort Mill with a team score of 123 points.
It was one of the better state outings in program history. RV’s team score was the third best on the books and in terms of final placement it was the third time the Blazers finished at state. Runner-up efforts in 2004 and 2001 are at the top of the list.
Sophomore standouts David Jennings and Joseph Keitt led the way with all-state runs. Jennings was fifth with a nation al elite time of 16 minutes, 25 seconds, while Keitt checked in 10th in 16:47.
Nick Gladden, the only senior in the state scoring lineup, finished 35th in 17:20, while sophomores Jay Lynch (42nd, 17:27) and Ty’re Ware (62nd, 17:44) accounted for the rest of the points.
