Spring Valley made strides as the 2008 season progressed under first-year coach Holly Barber. The Vikings finished with a 5-11 overall record and a 3-7 mark in Region 4-4A matches.

“This was our first season together as a team, mine being a new head coach, and many of them as first time players,” said Barber. “It was a rebuilding season that was both fun and hard fought. We will work hard in the off-season to build our skills and come back as a solid, knowledgeable and much more skilled team in 2009.”

The Vikings starting lineup featured eighth-grader Megan Vandiver, who went 5-7 at No. 1 singles, eighth-grader Lauren Kuhne (4-10 at No. 2 singles), junior Sara Ouellet (6-7 at No. 3 singles), eighth-grader Shannon Hall (4-4 at No. 4 singles) and sophomore Brooke Summers (4-12 at No. 5 singles). Junior Megan Ray went 5-3 in singles players at different points in the season.
