Action continues Monday at Chapin's Claw Classic tournament

Action continues Monday at the Claw Classic girls basketball preseason tournament hosted by Chapin.

Heathwood Hall takes on defending tournament champion Irmo at 6 p.m. and host Chapin meets Blythewood at 7:30 p.m. in winner’s bracket games at Chapin High School. A.C. Flora meets Clinton at 6 p.m. and White Knoll squares off against Hammond at 7:30 p.m. in consolation bracket games at Chapin Middle School.

The championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Brooke McCants and Sarah Green scored 13 points apiece and Tarea Yates added 11 as Irmo beat Clinton 51-29 in first-round play on Saturday.

Layla Neal tallied 13 points and Kelly Coker scored 10 in Chapin’s 47-32 first-round win over Hammond. Kaki Smith scored 12 points for the Skyhawks.

Kristen Dickerson and Arayael Brandner combined for 35 points for Heathwood Hall in a 39-29 first-round win over A.C. Flora. Dickerson fired in a 21 points, and Brandner added 14 for the Highlanders. Kim Roach scored 15 points for the Falcons.
