Chapin enjoyed another successful volleyball campaign in 2008, finishing with a 22-5 record and winning the Region 4-3A championship. It was the second region title in a row for the Eagles, who prevailed in Region 5-3A in 2007.
"We overcame some rough times at the beginning of the season and managed to put together an outstanding season," said coach Mary Jo Jenny. “We should be very competitive again next season with four starters returning and a strong group of young players coming up from the junior varsity.”
Layla Neal had an outstanding senior season, earning all-state and all-region honors. The standout middle hitter/blocker was named the Region 4-3A player of the year.
Senior setter Chelsea Frick, senior middle hitter Sarah Baton and eight-grader Sara Jefferson joined Neal on the all-region team.
