Ridge View improved to 3-0 on the season with a 55-49 overtime win over Dutch Fork in girls basketball action on Tuesday.
The Blazers left a 34-20 halftime lead slip away in the second half, but put the Silver Foxes away with a 10-3 spurt in the extra period. One reason for the near collapse was a poor, 11-for-23 showing at the free-throw line.
Maya Adams led a balanced Ridge View attack with 11 points, and had close support from Shaniqua Whitley (9 points), Nicole Jones (8), Destiny White (7) and Akaycia Fulmore (7). Whitley led the team with three assists. Jones pulled down a team high 10 rebounds and Adams grabbed nine.
The Blazers tuned up for the regular season opener by beating Lexington (47-36) and Airport (55-25) in a preseason tournament last week.
