Lexington boys up early record to 5-0

Lexington’s boys basketball team, fresh from a 4-0 showing at the Lake Murray Tip-Off Tournament, opened the regular season with a 54-46 win at South Aiken on Tuesday.

Shaq Roland fired in 22 points for the Wildcats and had double-digit support from Matt Jergenson (10 points).

Lexington hosts Box Hill – a prep team from Australia – on Friday night.

The Wildcats dumped Airport (92-57), Williston-Elko (68-24), Chapin (61-41) and Midland Valley (59-55) at the Lake Murray primer. Corey Herndon was named the team’s offensive player of the week, William Scurry was the defensive player of the week and Michael Spires got the sixth-man award.
