Herbert stars again in Rebels win

Calvin Herbert had his second straight double-double and his fourth of the season while leading the Mid-Carolina boys basketball team to a 78-67 win vs. Emerald at home on Wednesday.

Herbert had 23 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and three assists as the Rebels avenged a previous loss to the Vikings from Greenwood and improved to 5-2 on the season. Herbert is averaging 13.1 points and 8.0 rebounds to date.

M-C’s defense played a big part in the win with 19 steals. Hubert Wicker, Mac Lake and Krishawn Holley combined for 14 of the thefts. Lake and Holley shared the team lead with five steals apiece.

Herbert received double-digit scoring support from C.J. Edwards and Tevins Walker. Edwards matched his season high mark with 14 points, while Walker tallied 11 – the first time he’s hit double figures this season.
