Senior Brandon Proveaux, who is ranked second in Class 4A at 215 pounds by scmat.com, was White Knoll’s lone champion at the Outback Steakhouse Invitational wrestling tournament last weekend at North Myrtle Beach.
Proveaux, a two-time state qualifier, went 4-0 on the way to first place, beating third-ranked Adrian Stewart of Fort Dorchester in the 215 title bout. Freshman Chris Jeffries (103) and senior Skylar Walker (130) both had fourth-place efforts. WK finished ninth in the field of 26 teams with 96.5 points.
The Timberwolves also breezed by Dreher (67-12) and Brookland-Cayce (72-6) in dual action. Freshman Austin Lee (112), freshman Kyle Epting (119), senior Shane Lee (135), junior Chad Lee (140), sophomore Phillip Austin (171), senior Jeff Spradley (189) and freshman Asa Gossett (215) all had two pins each in the sweep of the neighboring 3A foes.
