C.A. Johnson put together a strong second-half performance, but still fell short against Logan, W.V. in its final outing in the Chick-fil-A Classic on Wednesday at Richland Northeast.
The Green Hornets (4-5) fell into a 39-18 hole by halftime, but stormed back to cut the deficit to 61-57 on two free throws by Aaron Haggins with 1:36 to go. Logan, however, held CAJ to just one more the rest of the way to eventually prevail by a 68-58 count.
Antonio Brown led the Hornets with 19 points, while Haggins and Dayton Whitmore tallied 15 points apiece. Brown had six assists and three steals, Haggins grabbed a tream-high seven rebounds and had four steals.
CAJ finished with a 0-3 tournament record.
