Blackmon scores 30, but LR falls in Chick-fil-A finale

Lower Richland’s Preston Blackmon fired in a tournament-high 30 on Wednesday at the Chick-fil-A Classic ar Richland Northeast, but the Diamond Hornets dropped a 71-63 decision to Bishop McGuinness.

LR (5-3) closed with a 1-2 tournament record.

Blackmon, who was named to the all-tournament team, was 11-for-19 from the field, including an 8-for-13 conversion rate from 3-point range, on the way to his 30 points, topping the 29 he tallied in the first round against Richland Northeast. The 5-11 senior guard also had three assists and three steals.

Larry Felder also had a big game for the Diamond Hornets with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Blackmon and Felder went 18-for-31 combined from the field, while the rest of the team was 6-for-36.
