Lexington closed out a busy December schedule with a fourth-place finish at the Beef O’Brady’s Invitational wrestling tournament last weekend in Fort Mill. The Wildcats finished in fourth place with 142 points behind Rock Hill, host Fort Mill and Class 3A powerhouse Eastside.
The Wildcats will act as hosts for the Wildcats Duals event (Jan. 2-3) after the holiday break.
Steven Dorrell and Steven Steinbacher emerged as the Lexington individual champions. Dorrell went 6-0 with six pins on the way to the 215-pound championship, and that was not good enough to rate the outstanding wrestler award. Steinbacher, meanwhile, rolled to the 103 title.
Otherwise, Hampton Motley (125), Alex Morales (160) and Kraig Crawford (189) all reached the championship finals byt had to settle for second-place honors. Terry Holthuasen was a fourth-place finisher at 135.
