Eau Claire handed Timberland its first loss of the season Monday night in Santee, downing the Class 3A Wolves 61-44 in the Lake Marion Invitational girls championship game.
The Shamrocks, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, raced to a 34-21 lead at halftime and cruised home from there. Ebony Ross and Amelia Carrie led the EC romp, scoring 24 and 23 points, respectively. Breonda Shannon added 11 points to the cause.
Ross was named the tournament MVP. Carrie and Ross were named to the all-tournament team.
The Shamrocks return to action on Jan. 6 at Lower Richland, looking to avenge a 43-38 early-season loss to the Diamond Hornets. It is the final non-region tune-up for Eau Claire, which makes its Region 4-2A debut against Andrew Jackson at home on Jan. 9.
