Well, basketball is golden in surrounding areas.
I had a chance to catch some basketball at Andrew Jackson High School for the tournament and caught a glimpse of Great Falls' boys team against Lugoff-Elgin.
I haven't been to a local tournament like that in years, but I was pleasantly surprised with the level of competition and the crowd.

I sat in the trash-talking section of the gym and caught an earful of what the fans thought about their favorite players. Every time a player from Great Falls shot the ball, a fan behind me shouted "count it", "nothing but net", "they can't guard him", and on and on. He was really on it because at one point that's all that was happening, basket after basket.
The next day didn't prove any different, with the Great Falls girls going against North Central. The Great Fall fans were there and proudly stated they were behind their team 100 percent.
North Central girls pulled out the win.
Basketball fans are well and alive, and I was there as a witness.
