Mid-Carolina rallied in the final minute of play to nip McCormick 51-49 in a non-region boys basketball game on Friday night.
Tevins Walker’s two free throws with 50 seconds remaining tied the score at 49. The Chiefs then planned to hold the ball for the last shot. The plan, however, was thwarted by Krishawn Holley. The junior forward came up with a clutch steal and passed the ball to the streaking Walker who drove for the game-winning lay-up as the buzzer sounded.
Walker finished with 11 points, while Holley had a big game with 17 points, 10 rebounds and one blocked shot. Otherwise, Calvin Herbert had six points and eight rebounds, Hubert Wicker had seven points, two steals and two assists and Mac Lake chipped in five points and seven rebounds.
The Rebels (7-3) don’t play again until Jan. 9 when they host Strom Thurmond in the first round of Region 3-2A play.
