Lexington’s wrestling team will cross the state line for the third time this season when it travels to Hampton, Vir., this weekend to take part in the Virginia Duals – a massive event with 48 entries from all over the United States.
“It should be great competition and a great experience for the kids,” said Wildcats coach Derek Strobel.
In two out-of-state ventures in December Lexington finished second at the Black Knight Duals in North Carolina and placed third at the Indian Classic tournament in Kingsport, Ten.
Strobel’s team returned to action last weekend at the Wildcat Duals. Lexington went 3-2, and finished fifth in the 10-team field. Hampton Motley (125) and Alex Morales (160) were the only Wildcats to go 5-0 during the two-day event, while Steven Steinbacher (103), Kraig Crawford (171) and Steven Dorrell (215) all went 4-1.
