Camden splits; Madrid scores 120th career win

Camden senior Horace Madrid claimed his 120th career victory on Tuesday night while going 2-0 at a triangular meet Tuesday in Sumter.

Madrid reached the milestone with a first-period pin in Camden’s tight 39-36 win over Richland Northeast, which is guided by former Bulldogs coach Richard Bonneville. Madrid added another win via fall in the nightcap – a 54-19 loss to the host Gamecocks.

Davis Partin (171) and Nick Benson (119) were the only other Bulldogs to go 2-0. Partin had bagged wins by 9-3 and 9-0 counts, while Benson had a pin and a forfeit.

“Our kids displayed a lot of grit, determination and effort, and we are definitely starting to steer ourselves in the right direction,” Camden coach Stephen Sutusky.
