North hands CAJ boys first 4-1A setback

Davonta James fired in 24 points to lead North to a stunning 70-51 rout of host C.A. Johnson on Friday night. The Eagles now share first place in Region 4-1A boys basketball with Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.

Louis Dreher’s Hornets (7-6, 3-1) now find themselves alone in third place, one game behind the leaders and just lone game ahead of Williston-Elko. CAJ travels to play Williston-Elko on Tuesday.

The Hornets girls, however, rebounded nicely from their first loss in region play last Tuesday with a 36-32 win. Whitney Greene led the way with 14 points and Jamie Corbitt added 12 points in support.

CAJ (4-6, 3-1) now shares second place in the region race with Williston-Elko and Blackville-Hilda behind front-running, No. 1 ranked Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.
