Lower Richland and Fairfield Central opened the Region 4-3A boys basketball campaign with wins on Friday night.
The Diamond Hornets (11-3, 1-0) made A.C. Flora its first official Class 3A victim, downing the Falcons 73-55 behind a 22-point performance by Larry Felder. Preston Blackmon was the other double-digit man for LR with 12 points. Marquise Samuel scored 15 points for ACF, Kvahn Pennix added 14 and Akeem Williams chipped in 10.
Fairfield Central (10-3, 1-0) led by 19 points at halftime, but saw host Chester force the game into overtime with a stirring second-half rally. The Cyclones scored the last nine points in regulation to compel an extra four minutes. But the Griffins scored 10 of the 11 points in OT to come away with a 77-68 win.
Fairfield Central hosts LR on Tuesday night.
