Keenan girls fade in 2nd half at Lee Central

Keenan seemed to be in complete control at halftime Friday night at Lee Central, but the host Stallions rallied from a 14-point deficit at the break to beat the Raiders, 47-43, and keep pace with Eau Claire at the top of the Region 4-2A girls basketball standings.

Lee Central (9-6, 3-0) plays at Eau Claire on Tuesday in an early first-place region showdown.

Star point guard Whitney Smith scored 17 of her game-high 28 points in the second half, and the Lee Central defense limited the Raiders to just 13 points in the final two quarters. Smith also had seven assists and four steals. Genevieve Hammett also helped the cause with 10 points.

Myosha Hennicks and Brittani Goodwin paced Keenan with 14 and 10 points, respectively. The Raiders dropped back to 9-6 overall, 2-1 in region play.

Eau Claire (14-2, 3-0) maintained a share of first place by whipping up on Central 80-34 in Pageland. Amelia Carrie led the Shamrocks with 15 points and had ample support from Bianca Robinson (11), Janae Stevenson (10) and Breonda Shannon (9).
