Lower Richland is ready for a two-game Region 4-3A girls basketball set that will determine if the Diamond Hornets are going to be challenge at all for conference supremacy this season.
The Diamond Hornets (14-1, 3-0) travel to Chester on Friday, and take on Chapin Tuesday at home.
Chester (12-1, 3-0) handed Chapin its first region loss last Friday, 63-53. The score was tie at 41 before Jasmine Sanders scored two baskets late in the third quarter to give Chester a shot of momentum entering the final quarter. Sanders finished with 24 points and star guard Micah Wessinger tallied 19. Sanders and Wessinger scored six points each in the fourth quarter as Chester pulled away.
The Diamond Hornets have blown away A.C. Flora, Fairfield Central and Lugoff-Elgin to date. LR is averaging 72.7 points in region play, while allowing the opposition a meager 26.7 points a game.
