Camden opened the second half of the Region 6-3A boys basketball season with a rousing 65-47 home win against Crestwood on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs win sets up Friday's first-place showdown in Florence against the Wilson Tigers. Both teams stand at 5-1 in conference play. Wilson won on Tuesday by an almost identical score as Camden, breezing by Lakewood 66-47.
Camden thumped Wilson by a surprisingly easy 71-49 margin in the first meeting on Jan. 13.
The Bulldogs 'Big 3' did the heavy damage vs. Crestwood. Jay Council led the 28 points, Josh Council scored 15 and Evrik Gary chipped in 10. Jay Council, who hit Crestwood for another 28 points in the first meeting of the teams, is leading Camden in conference scoring at 20.5 ppg, followed by Gary at 15.2 and Josh Council at 15.0.
The Camden girls, on the other hand, fell to 0-6 in region play on Tuesday after suffering a 54-42 loss to Crestwood. Daisey Whitaker scored 14 points for the Bulldogs, who fell to 7-10 overall.
