Mid-Carolina swept Gilbert in the only Region 3-2A basketball action on Tuesday.
The Rebels (7-8, 4-1) girls maintained its hold on second place in the region behind front-running Strom Thurmond by whipping the Indians 46-32. Teyonna Marshall and Erin Bailey scored 10 points apiece for M-C. Courtney Frye led Gilbert (6-12, 1-4) with 11 points.
In the nightcap, the M-C boys scored their first region win with a 73-64 triumph against the winless-in-region Indians. Calvin Herbert and C.J. Edwards shared team honors with 20 points each. Herbert also chipped in eight rebounds and three steals, while Edwards had three assists and two steals and helped put the verdict on ice by for 8-for-8 at the free-throw line in the final three minutes of the game. Otherwise, Mac Lake had eight points, five rebounds and three assists, Krishawn Holley chipped in six points, eight boards and three steals and freshman Jacobi Boyd went 2-for-3 from 3-point range for six points. Gilbert's Mark Robinson took game scoring honors with 21 points.
The Rebels trailed 34-32 at halftime, but gained control during a 22-11 run in the third quarter.

Mid-Carolina now stands at 8-7 overall, 1-4 in region, while Gilbert fell to 3-15, 0-5.
